Our program is designed to help children develop their innate curiosity for the natural world, fostering a sense of appreciation and care for our environment.
Our Bush Adventures are led by experienced and enthusiastic educators dedicated to helping your family learn about and connect with the natural world.
If an activity has a specific age-group listed, younger and older siblings can join at no cost, with the understanding that the delivery level may not be fully suited to their level of understanding.
Some highlights of what's on offer
Rockpool Rambles
Look into the extraordinary world of rockpools (multiple events for different age groups).
Where the land meets the sea lies a magical world teeming with life. Join us as we explore the rockpools of timtumili minanya/River Derwent and uncover the secrets of its fascinating residents. Spot slithering snails, spear-wielding anemones, crabs, and tiny critters, and discover how these incredible creatures survive and thrive in this ever-changing environment.
Bee Ecology 101
Music, nature play, and creative learning in this bush adventure all about people and pollinators!
Join Dr Amelie Vanderstock (Amelie Ecology) in discovering the diversity and ecology of native bees and insect pollinators in our local bushland. In this family-friendly holiday workshop, we'll also learn about planting and habitat to improve our backyards (big or small!) for pollinators.
"Hollow Heart" Toy Theatre
The captivating story of the tree with a Hollow Heart.
Will the enchanting magic of birds come to the rescue and heal this mystical tree? Presented by Dr. Sue Stack, artist, educator, and performer passionate about encouraging students to find and tell their own stories, and Moran Wiesel, eco-therapist and performer who loves playing outdoors!
And lots more activities including waterbug surveys, discovery walks, platypus protector sessions and nature art.
Visit our trybooking page for all activities and further details.
For kids over 10 years, we are also joining the team from Youth Arts and Recreation Centre (YARC) to reach the pinnacle of kunanyi / Mt Wellington with us. On this short walk, we'll uncover some of the mountain's wonders. This is a fun and easy adventure on the mountain and is open to young people aged 12-25 years.
Tickets for this event are via the YARC Humanitix website.
Check out more about YARC and events for young people on the YARC website.
