The City of Hobart takes great care in planning and conducting fuel reduction burns, which reduce bushfire hazards in our bushland reserves, and we make every effort to reduce the impacts of our burns on nearby residents.
However, it is impossible to completely avoid generating some smoke during these burns.
If you or a family member has a medical condition that can be exacerbated by smoke you can sign up to receive email alerts about upcoming City of Hobart fuel reduction burns.
Alerts will be sent up to 24 hours before any planned fuel reduction burn.
Just sign up to our Parks email updates, and tick the fuel reduction burns box.

Please be aware that a number of other agencies conduct fuel reduction burns that can impact the Greater Hobart region, including the Tasmania Fire Service, Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service, Sustainable Timber Tasmania and other councils.
View planned burn sites across Tasmania on the What's Burning Now webpage.
If you're concerned about the impact smoke can have on your health Tasmania's Department of Health website has tips on what to do when it is smoky and how to track local air quality.
