Traffic Management on City roads

The City of Hobart is responsible for the design and construction of alterations to roads (other than those controlled by the Department of State Growth and TasPorts).

Linemarking and traffic control signs (give way, stop, one way, keep left, etc)

Linemarking (other than yellow 'No Stopping' lines and lines associated with parking bays) on all Tasmanian roads is the responsibility of the Department of State Growth. Any issues relating to the need for new linemarking or the maintenance of existing linemarking should be either directed to the Department of State Growth website or, alternatively, it can be referred to us and we will pass the issue on to the Department of State Growth.

If you have any questions about yellow 'No Stopping' linemarking or linemarking associated with parking bays, please telephone 03 6238 2711 or email coh@hobartcity.com.au.

On-street parking zones

Street name signs

To enquire about street names, or if you know of an existing sign that is damaged or missing, please call 03 6238 2711 or email coh@hobartcity.com.au.

Road humps

Road humps reduce vehicle speeds on local roads. They can also reduce on-street parking, increase vehicle noise (through heavy braking and accelerating) and increase reaction times for emergency vehicles.

We have a set of guidelines for the investigation of public requests for road humps. If you are interested in having road humps installed on your street, please call 03 6238 2711 or email coh@hobartcity.com.au.
