E-scooters
E-scooters are a space efficient, accessible and low impact transport. Private e-scooter ownership and use is increasing across Australia.
Under Tasmanian Road Rules, e-scooters may be used on most footpaths, shared paths, bike paths and roads with a speed limit under 50km/h.
The City of Hobart no longer offers a shared e-scooter program and has moved to an e-bike-only shared scheme. Privately owned e-scooters remain legal in Tasmania when used in accordance with Tasmanian Road Rules.
