Scoot Smart Hobart

E-Scooters are fun. They're convenient. They're great for the environment.

But, like any other form of transport, they also need to be used properly.

The City of Hobart, in partnership with e-scooter vendors Beam and Neuron are currently involved in a 12-month trial of e-scooters. In December 2021, the Tasmanian State Government passed legislation that made the use of e-scooters and other personal mobility devices (PMDs) legal to use on footpaths, shared paths, bicycle paths, and some roads in Tasmania.

Since then, Hobart residents and tourists have ridden e-scooters further than the distance from here to the Moon!

Yet we still need to encourage people to ride safely and responsibly.

The City of Hobart is actively engaged in promoting good rider behaviour and safety.

Scoot Smart Hobart promotes responsible riding, while still having fun and enjoying this unique mode of transport.
