Community safety
The City of Hobart aspires to be a city for all, in which everyone feels safe, secure and can meet their basic needs. To truly become a city for all, we must work towards inclusion and equity for all who live, work, visit or play in Hobart.
We have an active role in working with the community, businesses, law enforcement agencies and service providers to improve safety and perceptions of safety within our city. Community safety priorities and actions have been developed over many years with our community safety partners and will continue to do so.
It is always important to observe basic safety measures when out and about. Remember to:
- be aware of your surrounds and be alert to people and traffic at all times
- walk in well-lit areas
- where possible don't walk alone at night
- trust your instincts. If you feel unsafe, move to an area where there are people and ask or call for help.
For all emergencies always call 000 (triple zero).
