2024 Lunar New Year Festival

The 2024 Lunar New Year Festival will be celebrating the Year of the Dragon.

This festival is held on picturesque Parliament House Lawns, with a wide variety of family-focused activities. It is the largest celebration of the Lunar New Year in Tasmania, bringing together communities to mark the most important celebration in Asia.

The festival focuses on Asian food, entertainment, cultural performances and fun for young families.

Highlights include:

• Opening ceremony at 11.30 am showcasing the Lion Dance, Dragon Dance and the lighting of a three metre Fire Cracker
• Performances of traditional Chinese cultural items including
• Instruments Pipa, Guzheng
• Dhyana Sword performance
• A non stop Asian focused performances including dancers and singers from a wide spectrum of Asian countries.

Entry is free.

The event is organised by the Chinese Community Association of Tasmania and supported by the City of Hobart.
