Hidden Histories Open Day
Hobart Town Hall will open its doors for a journey through time, providing an insight into the history of the building, council, and the City of Hobart.
Coinciding with National Children’s Week, the open day will include folk stories; a variety of hands-on activities; folk dancing performances, and workshops. The open day expands on the current tour that is given to student groups at Town Hall, and will include historical re-enactments and access to rarely-seen rooms, including the Lord Mayor’s courtroom and tours to the old court room cells.
There will also be Aboriginal cultural activities provided by NITA Education.
Stories and insights from throughout the area’s history will be presented during the Town Hall open day providing everyone with a unique opportunity to learn more about the city, from its earliest days inhabited by the Muwinina people to the present.
The free event will be held on Saturday, 30 October from 2 pm to 5 pm, with refreshments provided by Variety Tasmania.
