Hiero is an intergenerational dance experience presented by a cast of 20 dancers aged 13-76, spanning four generations. The public can access Hiero via a community workshop, live digital streaming and public showings.

Created and produced by Great Southern Dance, Hiero sees GSD collaborate with 12 performers from Mature Artists Dance Experience and 4 youth dance interns. These dancers at different life stages will perform together, deeply curious about respective roles, rights, responsibilities and lived experience.

Meaning 'sacred', the Greek word hiero (think 'hieroglyphics' for pronunciation) is used here to name the way performance will be used as a lens, offering those present glimpses of intergenerational connections we deeply respect and hold dear to us.

Residency Open Day

On Day 6 of the residency (July 6) we throw open our doors for workshopping and performing. We want to share our creativity and to know how participants and audience members respond. These activities are designed to be ACCESSIBLE and can be attended entirely seated. (Yes, even the dance workshop!)
