Mid-Winter Brazilian Folk Fest

An event for the whole community to get together to celebrate diversity and have fun!

For its second year in Tasmania, the Mid-Winter Brazilian Folk Fest are here for you to immerse yourself in this cultural event showcasing the Brazilian culture like no other!

Culture, comfort Food & Drinks and so much fun!

Festa Junina (here translated to Mid-Winter Brazilian Folk Fest) is also known as the Festa de São João and is celebrated during the month of June and July nationwide in Brazil.

As North-eastern Brazil is largely arid or semi-arid this festival coincides with the end of the dry season in most states, so people get together to celebrate the arrival of rain! They also celebrate rural life and feature typical clothing, food (usually made with products from the harvest), and traditional dance, particularly "forró" and "quadrilha" (square group dance).

The day will be fulfilled with food stalls cooking delicious traditional food, delicious local drinks from Simple Cider along with live music, DJ, best typical dress competition and lots of dancing! It's a FAMILY EVENT so bring your kids to have a fun day.
