International Women’s Day Tree Planting

Our special commemorative ceremony to mark International Women’s Day will take place on Wednesday 8 March 2023. 

This event is even more special as it includes the planting of a beautiful cypress tree. This is in response to heartfelt letters from members of the Tasmanian Iranian community, human rights groups and community supporters to acknowledge one very special woman and a movement that has sprung from her tragic death.  

This beautiful public space, which has been further enhanced by this symbolic tree, will provide an inclusive space for gathering and reflection for all community members.

The City of Hobart is proud to support the ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ campaign and people’s dignity and human rights.
