The Hearth

Next date: Friday, 30 August 2024 | 07:30 PM to 08:30 PM

The Hearth

The black crow lands. An omen, a sign.
My feet, wet from the rain, squelch on the cobbled pavement.
I shelter, I hope, for a home that's warm and safe.
Where I can be me.
How do I make a safe space? For me, for you, for all of us?
Radical, it is not.
A resolution, a requisite.
The crow is at the Hearth.

The Hearth has been created in collaboration between nineteen DRILL company members aged 12-25, DRILL's Artistic Director, Bec Dundas, guest artist HK Vermuelen, and Tasmanian Aboriginal artist, singer, songwriter and composer DENNI.

Be inspired by the creativity and passion of our young artists as they explore the concept of safe spaces through this site-responsive contemporary dance work full of intimate and expansive experiences. This is more than just a performance; it's an invitation to reflect on what makes a place feel safe and how we can create such spaces for ourselves and others.

Please note: The Hearth is a roving work that moves through several locations in TMAG and has been designed with most of the audience standing. Audience members with mobility challenges will be able to access the lifts as required and some seating will be available at each of the locations on our roving journey.
