Christmas Grants

Christmas Grants provide financial assistance for community or not-for-profit based organisations and groups to present Christmas carol events and Christmas activities.

Please read the relevant guidelines for program objectives, eligibility information and assessment criteria. Strategies which you may need to address in your application are linked on this page.

The success of an application is determined by merit against the assessment criteria. It is important to note that meeting all criteria does not guarantee that an application will be successful.

Apply for a grant

To commence an application you will first need to register online with SmartyGrants. Click 'Apply online' below and then 'Log In' on the following page. You can then register as a user and commence your application. From this page you can also preview the application form.

Community Christmas Carols Grants

The Community Christmas Carols Grant is provided to support community groups and not-for-profit organisations to present free events and activities that include Christmas carols, such as:

  • precinct carols events located in halls or local facilities
  • roving carollers
  • neighbourhood Christmas celebrations with singing
  • a series of gatherings featuring carols
  • large scale carols by candlelight events.

Festive Season Charitable Quick Response Grants

The Festive Season Charitable Quick Response Grant funds charitable organisations and groups to deliver projects that support vulnerable and disadvantage members of the Hobart community during the festive season.

Examples include:

  • providing food hampers or a food service for people in need
  • Christmas gifts for disadvantaged or isolated community members.

Amount: up to $1000

Applications open: Wednesday 3 July 2024
Applications close: 3 pm Monday 2 December (or when the funding pool has been allocated)
Notification of outcome: within 10 days of submission of a complete application

Activity timeframe: Activity starts no sooner than three weeks after the submission date of the application and between 25 November and 25 December 2024
