Cornelian Bay Park

Cornelian Bay Playground

The Cornelian Bay playground is a terrific place for the kids, and a number of walking tracks will take you out towards the headland - Cornelian Bay Point - and further on to the historic Cornelian Bay Cemetery.

In the other direction a walking track takes you past beautifully maintained, quirky boatsheds, each with its own character, and then further to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens.

You can also just sit by the beach and watch black swans feeding in the sheltered waters of Cornelian Bay.

Cornelian Bay is also just off the Intercity Cycleway, making it a great destination for keen bike riders.

There are also picnic tables, seating, shade trees, drinking fountain, bins, lighting, toilets and plenty of parking.

The Cornelian Bay sportsground is a great place to kick or throw a ball or frisbee, and the family dog can run and make friends in the off-lead exercise area.

BBQ areas

There are covered barbecue areas by the foreshore car park, and near the playground. Both sites have terrific views of the bay, the headland and out across the water to the Tasman Bridge.

There are also uncovered barbecues near the Boat House Restaurant.

Dogs

Cornelian Bay Park contains remnant coastal vegetation that provides habitat for a variety of native animals and water birds, while the adjoining Cornelian Bay Cemetery is a place for quiet reflection and contemplation.

The off-lead area for dog exercise is from the foreshore car park to Cornelian Bay Point.

While exercising your dog in this reserve, help protect these values by:

  • keeping your dog on established tracks and trails
  • preventing your dog from entering the cemetery
  • keeping your dog under effective control
  • conducting dog off-lead exercise during daylight hours.

For more information please see the Dog Management Policy page.
