The community profile uses data from the 1991 to 2021 Australia censuses.

It provides demographic information on our residents, for the whole local government authority and each suburb with comparisons data included for Australia, Tasmania, Greater Hobart, Regional Tasmania and a selection of other cities.

Social Atlas

Using interactive maps, the community atlas includes key socio-demographic characteristics gleaned from the 4 most recent censuses. The atlas has maps detailing data on:

  • income
  • labour force
  • housing
  • areas of disadvantage.

Economic Profile

The Economic Profile from id.profile is provided by the Department of State Growth on behalf of all Tasmanian local councils. It presents economic information that describe the area's role within the broader economy. The information is derived from official sources of information (Australian Bureau of Statistics) as well as Australia's leading economic modellers (NIEIR).

Population Forecast

Developed by independent forecasters, the population and household forecasts for the City of Hobart present what is driving population change in the community and how the population and age structure will change each year between 2021 and 2046.

The forecast is developed by looking at the drivers of population change and a series of assumptions based on population, housing and land use.
