International relations

City of Hobart's international engagements tap into economic opportunities particularly around our Antarctic Gateway City status, connect communities and cultures, grows our capacity to act on climate change and shows global leadership on things that matter to us.

Strategic partnerships

City of Hobart is actively exploring strategic partnerships with cities who have expertise or experience in areas of mutual interest, are looking to solve shared problems and/ or there are untapped opportunities for social and economic growth at city-level.

Strategic partnerships are different to a sister city relationship in that they are shorter term relationships with defined goals, however they can form the basis of a strong future sister city relationship.

Under our 2040 Climate Ready Hobart Strategy, we're committed to impactful advocacy and through participation in city networks such as GCoM, Local2030 and ICLEI, City of Hobart can play a leading role in collaborating on climate action and enabling Hobart to be climate ready.
