Appreciate the Little Things: Hobart’s National Mental Health Week

National Mental Health Week, from October 5-13, invites everyone to take a moment and appreciate the little things that contribute to mental well-being. The City of Hobart has organised a series of events and activities to help you prioritise self-care and community connection.

Monday 7 October – Explore the Art of Wellbeing

Take a break from your day and visit the Art of Wellbeing exhibition at Mawson Pavilion during your lunch break.

This exhibition, open from October 5-13, showcases inspiring artworks that highlight mental health awareness and creativity.

Tuesday 8 October – Boost Your Mood with Exercise

Nothing beats the mental benefits of physical activity.

Visit the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre (DKHAC) for a casual swim or gym class and get those endorphins flowing.

Wednesday 9 October – Community Support in Wellington Court

The City of Hobart is partnering with Mission Australia to provide support for young people.

The City and Mission Australia are building relationships, fostering connections, well-being and strategies to help tackle mental health.

Thursday 10 October – Join the Big Blue Table at Mathers House

Enjoy a meal at Mathers House café and connect with others.

As part of their new initiative, Mathers House has introduced the "Big Blue Table," a communal space designed to reduce social isolation and promote conversations around mental health.

Open to everyone, especially older members of the community, this table will be set up for the next 12 months.

Friday 11 October – Refresh with a Nature Walk

Wrap up the week by taking a peaceful walk through one of Hobart's beautiful parks or gardens.

Sometimes, appreciating nature's small wonders is all you need for a mental refresh.
