In the heart of Hobart, where busy lives often leave little time for outdoor time, there’s an opportunity to give your children something truly valuable: the chance to explore, play, and learn in nature.

Bush Adventures Program is an engaging, hands-on nature based education program designed to inspire kids to fall in love with the Hobarts Bushland Reserves and the natural world—and discover why it matters to all of us.

Why does it matter?

Because nature isn’t just “out there.” It’s what keeps our city liveable—clean air, fresh water, and a place to relax and recharge.

But for many Hobart kids growing up in a digital age, nature can feel distant.

Their days are filled with screens, school, and schedules, while the simple joys of exploring the bush or spotting wildlife are forgotten.

Our program invites kids to immerse themselves in Hobart’s beautiful bushland reserves through hands-on, engaging experiences.

It’s not a boring, hands-off, or exclusive activity where they’re simply talked at—it’s an inclusive, exciting adventure where children actively participate, learn, and connect.

They’ll develop practical skills, build confidence, make friends, and create lasting memories while exploring activities like waterbug monitoring, and discovering the fascinating hidden world of fungi.

Each adventure is thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity, inspire wonder, and foster a deep connection to nature.

The benefits go beyond nature

Spending time outdoors helps kids thrive physically, mentally, and socially.

Research shows that time in nature reduces stress, boosts creativity, and improves focus.

It also teaches life skills—problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience—that aren’t learned from a screen.

For parents juggling modern life, this program is a way to help kids find balance and connection.

It’s a chance to trade digital distractions for fresh air and real-world adventure, giving children something priceless: a sense of wonder, belonging, and purpose.

And it’s not just for the kids.

By sparking curiosity in the next generation, we’re helping to create a stronger, healthier Hobart—where people care for the environment that sustains us all.

Because when children love the bush, they carry that love into their homes, schools, and communities, inspiring action in all of us.
