Safer cycling on city streets

Argyle and Campbell Street bicycle connections

Installation of the Argyle and Campbell streets bicycle connections is progressing well.

The Campbell Street bike lanes are to be in operation by the end of April and the Argyle Street section scheduled for completion by early June.

These lanes will provide an important missing link in the Hobart's bicycle lane network.

Positioned between the kerb and parked cars, the new lanes provide real separation for cyclists and traffic making riding a safer option for everyone.

They can also be used by e-scooters as well as bicycles and provide more choice for people in how they want to travel.

As well as the new cycling infrastructure drivers and riders will notice some other changes such as new afternoon clearways on a small section of Campbell and Bathurst streets and a new bicycle traffic signal at the Liverpool Street intersection.

More information is available on the Argyle and Campbell Street bicycle connections project page.

The project is funded by the Tasmanian Government and the Australian Government's Road Safety Program through a $1.725 million Vulnerable Road User grant.
