Not everyone lives close enough to ride to work, but if you do, it’s the perfect way to save money and get fit at the same time.

This year national Ride2Work Day is being celebrated on Wednesday 16 October.

Why not use the date as your first to start riding to work?

If you work in the city, get along to the Bicycle Network and City of Hobart’s Ride2Work Day breakfast at Mawson Place between 7.30 and 9 am.

There’ll be pastries and coffees, pedal your own smoothies and lots of bikes to check out and experienced riders to talk to.

“Riding to work can feel daunting at first, but once you do it a couple of times it’s so easy that you’ll wonder what took you so long,” Bicycle Network’s Tasmanian spokesperson Alison Hetherington said.

“It will save you money on parking and petrol and is a simple way to fit physical activity into your day.

“If you have an e-bike it’s even easier as you won’t work up so much of a sweat and can carry more.

“We’ve got tips on our website for people starting to ride to work that includes how to plan a route, how to carry your stuff and what to wear at bicyclenetwork.com.au/ride2work.”
