1. Healthy Hobart (22 October 2024 – 5 April 2025)

The Healthy Hobart Spring-Summer program is back with 51 FREE activities for the whole family.

Enjoy everything from yoga and petanque to tennis and dance in Hobart’s parks and reserves.

Suitable for all ages and abilities, it's the perfect way to get active and have fun.

2. Small Press Zine Fair (12 October, 12–4pm @ Town Hall)

Join the 12th annual Small Press Zine Fair as the Hobart Town Hall Ballroom fills with zinesters offering their homemade publications (zines).

Whether you want to buy, swap, or just explore, there's something for every zine enthusiast.

Last year there was a record of over 70 zinesters and this year promises an even bigger event this year.

Free entry.

3. Seniors Week (14–20 October)

Celebrate Seniors Week with a range of fun and engaging events:

  • Mid-Seniors Week Disco (16 Oct, 2pm @ Criterion House, $10): Dance to classics from the 60s onwards.
  • Long Table Lunch (18 Oct, 12–2pm @ Mathers House, $25): A four-course meal with entertainment by St Michael’s Collegiate students.
  • Quiz (14 Oct, 11–12pm @ Lower Mathers House, Free): Test your knowledge.
  • Intergenerational Art Workshop (14 Oct, 2–3pm @ Youth Arc, Free): Create art over conversations and tea.
  • Stand-Up Comedy with Daryl Peebles (14 Oct, 2–3pm @ Main Dining Room, Donation): Enjoy some laughs with "Stand-up for Ageing."
  • Conquer Anxiety Workshop (15 Oct, 1–2pm @ Lower Mathers House, Free): Strengthen your mind with expert advice.
  • Legal Aid Talk (15 Oct, 2pm @ Main Dining Room, Free): Learn about safeguarding your future as you age.

4. Ride to Work Day (16 October)

Hop back on your bike for Australia's biggest commuter riding event.

Enjoy Hobart’s new bike lanes along Campbell and Argyle Streets or the Intercity Cycleway.

Join your colleagues for a City of Hobart-sponsored breakfast at Mawson Place from 7:30–9am, hosted by the Bicycle Network.

5. School Holidays Community Pizza Bake Day (8 October @ Legacy Park)

Kids can get creative by making their own pizzas at this hands-on event.

With face painters and a coffee van for adults, it’s a perfect family day out.

Parental supervision is required.

6. Salamanca Market (Every Saturday)

Tasmania’s most visited tourist attraction is packed with arts, crafts, local produce, and unexpected treasures.

There are over 300 stalls every Saturday, with the opportunity to meet the makers, artisans, craftsmen and women, collectors and producers.

Don’t miss the iconic Salamanca Market.
