Temporary closure of Morrison Street
Published on 23 September 2019
Salamanca Place precinct upgrade is progressing well. As part of the project the City of Hobart will commence stormwater renewal works in Morrison Street later this month.
The works include an installation of a new concrete stormwater pipe to replace an old brick arch, which was found to be in poor condition during a planned inspection.
To complete these works safely, the following road closures will be implemented from Sunday 29 September until Sunday 13 October (weather permitting):
- Morrison Street from Murray Street to Salamanca Place
- Gladstone Street from Salamanca Place to Murray Street
- Castray Esplanade from Morrison Street to Princes Wharf 1.
During the closure period a number of detours will be in place. Residents are advised to allow extra time for travel and follow signs and instructions of traffic controllers on site.
Members of the public are invited to an on-site information session on Thursday 26 September, from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm, on the Salamanca Lawns. City officers will to talk through the needs of the urgent works and the traffic management diversions required to allow the works to be completed as quickly as possible.
