City of Hobart and Salvation Army assisting community member
Published on 07 August 2024
The City of Hobart is working with the Salvation Army to assist a person experiencing homelessness who is currently living in St David’s Park but has had to leave temporarily.
The City is aware that a small excavator in the park near where community members are sleeping rough may draw curiosity or concern.
We want to assure the community that we are assisting these community members at their request to do so.
Quotes attributable to Acting City of Hobart CEO Neil Noye:
“At the request of fellow community members in St David’s Park, the City of Hobart and Salvation Army has been asked to assist a person experiencing homelessness.
“After the removal of belongings, there is an amount of debris remaining at the site that requires removal, including some potentially hazardous items.
“Therefore, for the safety of the community and City of Hobart staff, a small excavator and truck will be used on Wednesday to safely remove the debris left behind.
“The City of Hobart thanks the Salvation Army and the community for their assistance in this matter.”
