Lane closure - Bathurst Street
Published on 05 April 2018
The right hand lane in Bathurst St, from the Menzies Centre to the Brooker Highway will be closed between 9 am - 3 pm on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 April for tree removal works. Two lanes will be kept open at all times.
The City of Hobart will be removing one of the large ash trees located outside the Menzies Centre to make room for the planned bridge across the Brooker Highway. Once the bridge has been built, we will inspect the area and consider whether a replacement tree can be planted.
About the bridge
The Bridge will offer a safe and all-ability accessible pedestrian and cycle crossing over Brooker Avenue.
The project will advance Hobart’s pedestrian network, linking the city centre, from Bathurst Street, across the Brooker Avenue, to the Domain.
When completed the Bridge will provide improved connections between the Inner City and Queens Domain sporting and recreation facilities, as well as to the Glebe residential area, and between UTAS education facilities at Campbell Street and the Domain.
