Shop and support local this Christmas
Published on 21 November 2024
The City of Hobart is calling on the community to show their support for local businesses this festive season by shopping in the Hobart CBD.
While trading conditions remain challenging across the country, locals have the power to make a difference.
A recent survey of Hobart’s CBD by University of Tasmania retail expert Dr Louise Grimmer shows Tasmania’s main retail and business hub was very much alive, with low shopfront vacancy levels.
However, businesses need support from loyal, local customers to continue to thrive.
One such example is local success story, Francesca.
Starting out at Hobart’s iconic Salamanca Market, it has blossomed into an on-trend designer jewellery label, with an international online presence, stores in Hobart and Melbourne, and has recently expanded its Hobart production and offices.
Residents are also being encouraged to participate in the Hello Hobart Christmas Window Displays competition.
Voting for the People’s Choice Award runs from Saturday, 23 November to Sunday, 15 December 2024. For more information, visit the Hello Hobart website.
