A draft amendment to the City of Hobart’s interim planning scheme proposing to restrict future short-term accommodation permits in residential areas is open for public feedback from Saturday 2 April.

The 28-day public exhibition period has been extended to take into account the public holidays for Easter and Anzac Day. The representation period will therefore close on Friday 6 May 2022.

All members of the public are invited to view the draft amendment and submit a representation. Representations will be considered by the Planning Authority in preparing its final report.

The report will then be submitted to the Tasmanian Planning Commission for its consideration. The Commission must hold hearings into any representations and has the option to support the amendment, modify the amendment, or reject it.

The draft amendment proposes to insert a new qualification under the definition of 'Visitor accommodation' in the General Residential Zone, the Inner Residential Zone, and the Low Density Residential Zone of the Hobart Interim Planning Scheme 2015.

The amendment and supporting documentation will be on display at the City of Hobart’s Customer Service Centre throughout the public exhibition period, or can be viewed on the City’s website.

Representations can be made by any person in writing, addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, City of Hobart, GPO Box 503, Hobart 7001, or by email to representation@hobartcity.com.au. Representations must be received by no later than 6 May 2022.
