Planning Approval is sought for a purpose-built facility for Mental Health in the central southern portion of St Johns Precinct New Town.
More specifically the proposal includes:
A 5413m2 building over three storeys (plus basement), in an “H” shaped configuration, to accommodate the Southern Mental Health Beds Development (SMHBD) and Tasmanian Eating Disorder Services (TEDS) and office space for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
The ground floor will service predominantly outpatient services for the SMHBD and TEDS. The first floor will provide longer term in-patient services and include 15 SMHBD Beds and 12 TEDS bed in a home-like setting, along with relevant treatment and meeting rooms and staff facilities. The second floor will provide office accommodation and meeting spaces for approximately 90 CAMHS staff.
A 31 space car park will be provided adjacent to the facility and a further 34 space temporary car park will be provided between the Bowls Club and Parsonage Building to the west.
