Blinking Billy Point: Landscaping and retaining wall

Blinking-Billy-Montage-3.jpg

The City of Hobart is replacing the aging and deteriorating timber retaining wall at Blinking Billy Point below the lighthouse and World War II gun battlement.

We will landscape this area using dolerite boulders and a two metre wide planting strip along the top.

This section of Blinking Billy Point is subject to strong wave action during storms and the large dolerite boulders will better handle the worst of our southerly squalls.

We are also replacing the existing timber seats with new contemporary seating.

Boulders will also be used for added seating spaces.

Project dates

Work began on Monday 27 May 2024 and is expected to take four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Work will start at 7 AM and finish at 4 PM, Monday to Friday.

Access will not be permitted while the project is underway so please respect safety signage and follow directions.
