Castray Esplanade light poles renewal

Castray Esplanade light pole.

The City of Hobart is replacing aging and deteriorating light poles along Castray Esplanade, with work starting on Monday 28 October 2024.

The project will involve replacing nine light poles in the Salamanca Lawns area.

This project will improve public safety and ensure adequate lighting for the area.

Footpath closures

This project is expected to take seven weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Works will take place 7 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Footpaths will be open on weekends if safe to do so.

The taxi rank area will remain open. Please follow all on-site traffic signs and instructions.

Temporary lighting

Temporary lighting will be in place throughout the project to maintain public safety and visibility.

Traffic management will also be implemented, including restrictions on some on-street parking and sections of the Salamanca Lawns area.

Parts of the Salamanca Lawns footpath along Castray Esplanade will be temporarily closed, with clear signage directing pedestrians to alternate routes.

The City of Hobart apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates your patience and cooperation during this essential work.
