Murray Street stormwater upgrade
The City of Hobart is upgrading the stormwater system below Murray Street with new pipes, replacing old, failing infrastructure.
Works start on Monday 17 February 2025, and are expected to take two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Works will take place from 7 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
Open for business
While the upper section of Murray Street will be closed to vehicles, the footpath will remain open to foot traffic, making it easy for you to get to any of the businesses in this popular area.
Vehicle access to the Tasman Hotel will be maintained via Despard Street and a temporary two-way zone – marked in blue on the map.
Please follow all local traffic signage and instructions. Traffic management will help direct vehicles to alternative routes.
Business and services will operate as normal throughout the project, including:
- Executive Building
- Daci & Daci Bakers
- Institut Polaire
- Customs House Hotel
- The Tasman Hotel
- Deco Lounge
- Peppina
- Mary Mary
