Rivulet debris trap renewal

The City of Hobart regularly renews stormwater assets to ensure they are safe and to optimise their performance.

As part of these operations installed new iron posts on the Hobart Rivulet and Guy Fawkes Rivulet to replace aging and failing posts.

These iron posts are designed to trap logs and other debris before these materials are washed further downstream where they can cause blockages and flooding, damaging embankments, bridges, roads and even houses.

Corroded iron posts will be replaced near the Cascade Brewery, and additional posts installed on Guy Fawkes Rivulet.

An environmental plan was be used to manage risks to water quality and native plants and animals, including aquatic life.
