Pets and animals
The City of Hobart is responsible for managing dogs, horses, goats, cows, sheep, pigs and injured wildlife in its municipal area.
We operate within the Dog Control Act 2000 and the City of Hobart Dog Management Policy 2019-23 to create a caring, happy and safe environment for dogs and minimise their impact on other people, animals and the environment.
We work with a number of organisations including:
Keeping animals
Owners all of animals must comply with general requirements as outlined in the Health and Environmental Services By-Law.
Animal management after-hours service
We provide a 24-hour service to help locate the owners of dogs wearing City of Hobart registration tags that are found roaming the streets and attend dog attacks or injured animals.
For after-hours assistance please contact 03 6292 4205.
