When is my bin collected?

Christmas Day

There will be no waste, recycling or FOGO bin collection on Wednesday 25 December 2024. If this is your bin collection day, please put bins out on Tuesday 24 December by 5.30 am instead.

There are no other changes to bin collection over the Christmas and New Year period.

Bin collection

Enter your street address to find your collection dates.

To ensure your address is found and your bin collection dates are displayed, enter the property address without the unit or apartment number. For example, 1/56 Example Street, Hobart should be entered 56 Example Street, Hobart.

Public Holidays

Bin collection operates as normal for all public holidays except Christmas Day. Check the website closer to Christmas for updated Christmas Day bin collection information.

Bin placement

  • Wheelie bins to placed out prior to 5.30 am of collection day.
  • Please allow 50 centimetres between wheelie bins to allow the collection team room to empty your bin.
  • Place wheelie bins back onto your property boundary within 24 hours of collection (in accordance with the City's policy).
  • Where possible, please do not place bins out behind parked vehicles.
  • Please avoid placing wheelie bins out at accessible parking spaces.

How to choose the calendar

Please use our bin collection day search to see what day your collection falls on. For example, if the search shows your recycling bin collection day is 28 November, look at both calendars. The one that shows 28 November as a recycling collection day (in yellow) is your calendar - Calendar 1.

If the search shows that your recycling is collected on 21 November and you opened a Calendar 1 that shows this week as FOGO, that's not your calendar, yours must be Calendar 2.
