Backyard Bandicoots

The lawns and gardens of many homes in Hobart as well as surrounding bushland reserves and pockets of remnant vegetation provide much needed habitat for eastern barred bandicoots.

Extinct in the wild on mainland Australia, Tasmania is now the stronghold for these tiny, shy creatures. 

But with reports this species may be in decline across Tasmania it is becoming more important than ever to protect this nationally threatened species.
